About

Coalfield Development’s SEED Fund incubates and grow employment-based social enterprise partners in extraction-based rural communities to create opportunities for individuals and people groups facing barriers to employment (including low-income, unemployed, minority, and recovery from Substance Use Disorder). SEED Partners development new, living wage jobs in formerly extraction based rural communities. Additionally, these incubated enterprises focus on creating on-the-job-training, higher education opportunities, and personal development for their employees, creating a positive impact on the broader community and the environment.

SEED Partners must measure value according to a triple-bottom-line and must be strategically connecting to region-wide, sector-shaping efforts toward economic diversification and systems change. Coalfield Development currently invests up to $50k in start-up and early-stage SEED Businesses.
