The West Virginia Office of Energy is responsible for the formulation and implementation of fossil, renewable and energy efficiency initiatives to advance energy resource development opportunities and provide energy services to all West Virginians.

About

The West Virginia Office of Energy (WVOE) is one of 56 energy offices across the 50 United States, the District of Columbia, and five territories (American Samoa, Guam, Northern Mariana Islands, Puerto Rico, and the Virgin Islands). The WVOE is a division of the WV Department of Economic Development and is responsible for the formulation and implementation of fossil, renewable and energy efficiency initiatives designed to advance energy resource development opportunities and provide energy services to businesses, communities and homeowners in West Virginia. The WVOE offers:

  • Energy assessments for small and large businesses, municipalities, nonprofits, schools, and state agencies, as well as resiliency, cybersecurity, and carbon footprint studies. Contact Garrett Weaver, energy development specialist, at [email protected].

  • Technical assistance for local governments and municipalities wishing to adopt and enforce energy use management and energy code ordinances, and strategic planning for adopting energy reduction goals. Contact Garrett Weaver, energy development specialist, at [email protected].

  • Climate Pollution Reduction Grants (CPRG) program for funding to develop and implement plans for reducing greenhouse gas emissions and other harmful air pollution.   • Energy Efficiency and Conservation Block Grant (EECBG) for local governments and nonprofits in the state of West Virginia to receive energy efficiency retrofits. WVOE is providing sub-grants for projects that improve energy efficiency and reduce energy use at local governments and nonprofits.
