Company Lab Entrepreneur Center at the James Rumsey Technical Institute

A student and community entrepreneurship center available to residents of Berkeley, Jefferson and Morgan Counties. An Initiative of the WV Entrepreneurship Education Collaborative

About

The program has three main components. First, Entrepreneurship is now being taught at JRTI to full-time high school students who are interested in starting a business. Students are taught a curriculum coordinated by the WVDE, Marshall University Center for Entrepreneurship and Business Innovation, WVU Encova Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship and the EdVenture Group. 

Our second area of work includes the Adult Career Education students who are currently enrolled in our certification programs and would like assistance in starting their own business in West Virginia. This service is also available to all previous graduates of JRTI as an additional resource for any that are ready to make the leap from industry to ownership.

And our final component of the program is unique to the JRTI Company Lab-our services are also available to the residents of the Eastern Panhandle who need assistance navigating the process of business start-up or expansion. Planning is underway for business workshops and networking events in the newly renovated classroom. Co-working space and makerspace services may be available with cost-sharing but otherwise, services are at no cost to the students or general public.
