With a diverse industry base ranging from wind energy to hardwoods, the same attributes that entice visitors also offer a moderate pace for businesses and their employees. Located in the heart of the WV Hardwood Alliance Zone, Grant County has 239,000 acres of forest land. It is also the home of WVU Grant Memorial Hospital, the county’s largest employer. Grant County is home to businesses such as Grant County Mulch, Allegheny Wood Products, Grant County Bank, and is home to unique tourism opportunities such as a stop on the Potomac Eagle railway, Dolly Sods Wilderness area, aerial glide tour from the Grant County Airport and Smoke Hole Caverns.


For business start-ups, business relocations or expansions, Pendleton County offers a robust business climate enhanced by diversification and corporate vitality. A number of industries call Pendleton County home including Greer Lime Company, Hinkle Trucking, CMI, Allegheny Wood Products, PCB, and Future Generations University.
